Our strategy and plans
In order to ensure we are delivering the best possible service
to the public, we work within a strategic plan and set a yearly
policing plan to help us meet our objectives.
Strategic plans
Every three years, we, together with the British Transport
Police Authority, publish our four key objectives. This
forms the basis of the wider strategic plan that we will work
to.
Our Strategic Plan sets out what we intend to achieve and
deliver over a three-year period. The current plan, which runs from
2011 to 2014, will see us:
- Helping to keep rail transport systems running
- Helping to make the railway safer and more secure
- Deliver value for money through continuous improvement
- Promoting confidence in use of the railway.

Plan 2011-2014 (PDF format).
Policing plans
In addition to our Strategic Plan, we also publish our Policing
Plans every year:
Our annual Policing Plans set out how we will deliver our
strategic aims, specifically over the next 12 months, and details
the targets against which our success will be measured. They cover
both local and national objectives, ensuring we strike the right
balance between local and national needs.

Area Policing Plans 2013-14 (PDF format).
More information
The Strategic and Policing Plans are the building blocks upon
which we base performance and strive for success. Whatever activity
our officers and staff are engaged in, it should directly relate to
one of our strategic aims or Policing Plan objectives.
