To encourage under-represented groups to join us, we have key
initiatives. These make up part of our long-term strategy.
Application Advice Seminars
Application advice seminars are an introduction to BTP. They
provide information on our support groups and guidance on the
application form with particular emphasis on the competency based
questions and how we assess applicants.
Attendees can watch police recruitment videos which contain
a number of role models within the police force and specific
information relating to British Transport Police. In all seminars
there is the opportunity to ask questions.
Events
We also attend events to talk directly to anyone interested in a
career with us. These include specific recruitment fairs,
networking or celebratory events.
Familiarisation Weekends
Familiarisation weekends enable under-represented candidates to
experience what happens if they reach the assessment centre
stage. Mock written exercises, role plays, interviews, trial
fitness tests and advice on the assessment centre stage process are
included. Throughout the weekend, groups are able to ask questions
and are given feedback on areas for improvement.
